藉由犀利的洞察力及適度的詼諧，回溯了一位女兒在母親罹患阿茲海默症後所經歷的各個階段。女兒忙著糾正母親生活中的紊亂、健忘、及無來由的偏執，然而當她坦然面對命運之後，對彼此都是前所未有的解脫。片中捨棄疾病的悲情，也不對阿茲海默症進行醫學探究，而是用肯定生命的態度探索親情關係、老化、改變、記憶，以及深沉而複雜的愛。本片在1994年推出後大獲好評，獲美國各大媒體影評人選為當年度最佳紀錄片。

With profound insight and a healthy dose of levity, Complaints of A Dutiful Daughter chronicles the various stages of a mother's Alzheimer's Disease and the evolution of a daughter's response to the illness. Rather than mourning the sickness and medical exploration, the documentary focuses on the positive attitude towards Alzheimer and the family’s care-giving. It is ultimately a life-affirming exploration of family relations, aging and change, the meaning of memory, and love.
