本片像是個時間膠囊，藏著70年代美國曼哈頓的面貌與圖騰。映著這個如鬼城般的城市樣態，配上香妲・艾克曼的獨白，引人沉思身處於城市之中的疏離情緒，以及個人與家鄉的切離之感。紐約的城市圖景，並行的是現實中香妲傾讀住在比利時的母親來信的片段。這部早期的實驗紀錄片，是香妲・艾克曼對旅人距離最好的描述。

News From Home is like a time capsule storing the pictures of Manhattan in the 1970s. With the images of this urban ghost town and Akerman’s recitation of her Mom’s letters between 1971 and 1973, this film brings you to the meditation on urban alienation and personal and familial disconnection.
