文學教授法拉戈以出席學術會議的名義從布達佩斯來到布魯塞爾，為的是執行一項由匈牙利政府授權的任務──會見革命者安娜。時空倒回到二十年前，1956年，安娜和她的摯愛，也就是法拉戈的舅舅拉奇，因為戰事而分離。拉奇留在匈牙利；安娜則因不滿新政權而流亡到布魯塞爾。匈牙利政府欲借法拉戈之口說服安娜回國，達成收編革命餘黨之目的。法拉戈還不曉得，自己即將挖掘出安娜和拉奇浪漫蒼涼的愛情故事背後，那家族中塵封已久的秘密。
Faragó comes to Brussels for a conference presentation, but his real goal is to meet Anna, his uncle’s lover. She left Budapest for Brussels, and the Hungarian government sends Faragó to Brussels to persuade Anna into moving back to Hungary to witness the changes of the country. Faragó gradually discovers a family secret…
